Johan Neyts

Johan Neyts is full professor of virology at the University of Leuven (KULeuven), Belgium. His research is focused on the development of novel antivirals and vaccines against a number of neglected and emerging RNA viruses. His laboratory is/was partner in several large EU funded consortia on the replication machinery of RNA viruses as targets to inhibit viral propagation and on the discovery and development of antivirals and vaccines. Johan also successfully founded a biotech company in the field of antivirals for animals.

The Rega Institute for Medical Research (KUL-REGA) is part of the University of Leuven (KUL). It consists of departments of medicine and pharmacology and is a renowned center in Europe contributing to the discovery of novel antiviral and antibacterial treatments (Brivudine, Tenofovir).
