12 Nov Reintroducing Dasja Pajkrt: Professor of Viral Pediatric Infectious Diseases
You may know her as Dasja Pajkrt, coordinator of European consortia OrganoVIR and GUTVIBRATIONS, Pediatric Infectious Diseases Specialist at Emma Children’s Hospital, and Principal Investigator (PI) of the Department Infectious Diseases at Amsterdam University Medical Centers (AUMC). We are enthusiastic to reintroduce her with a new title behind her long list of titles: meet Dasja Pajkrt, Professor of Viral Pediatric Infectious Diseases.
“The only way is up” she says, when we asked her what her favorite quote is, which is clearly a reflection of her passion and dedication towards science. Prior to earning her title as a Professor of Viral Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Dasja studied medicine at the University of Amsterdam (UvA). In 1996, she obtained her PhD degree at UvA on modulation of inflammatory responses in human endotoxemia and in 2010 her MBA degree at the Rotterdam School of Management. Since 2005, she is working as a Pediatric Infectious Disease Specialist at the AUMC.
As of November 1st 2021, Dasja will be carrying out her role as a Professor in Viral Pediatric Infectious Diseases . As newly-appointed Professor, Dasja will further optimize the care and cure of children with viral infections by increasing the knowledge of viral pediatric infectious diseases through basic, clinical and translational science. “I am very grateful to all my clinical associates, scientific collaborators and teaching colleagues within the Netherlands and abroad for giving me the opportunity to work with them. A special thanks to all my patients and caregivers, students, PhD students with whom I work on a daily basis!” she says.
Congratulations once again to Professor Dasja Pajkrt on this amazing achievement.
